Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation Launches New Donor Advised Fund

Charitable Piggy BankNicklaus Children's is proud to be one of the first health systems in the state to offer its own donor advised fund. The health system’s fundraising arm, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation, launched the donor advised fund, in partnership with BNY Mellon, in an effort to provide donors with a tax-efficient way to maximize their charitable giving.

The new Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation Donor Advised Fund, sponsored by the BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund, allows donors to create their own charitable fund in which contributions can be held and grow tax-free.  Contributions may also be eligible for a tax deduction. Grants from the fund may be distributed at the donor’s own pace to their charities of choice, including Nicklaus Children's.

“We are delighted to work with BNY Mellon to give our donors more flexibility with their philanthropic intent, allowing them to create a fund and make grants where and when they wish,” said Greg Romagnoli, CAP®, senior director of gift planning at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are one of the few health systems in our area to offer such a service to our donors and believe this will be valuable for our community.”

The fund allows for easy setup online while providing flexibility, efficiency and impact. When individuals choose the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation Donor Advised Fund, they agree to make a gift of cash or other non-cash assets to Nicklaus Children's, with a portion of the gift allocated to a sub-fund that can be granted to other charitable causes they care about. They will also receive investment options through BNY Mellon. The minimum contribution to fund an account is $5,000, and the minimum grant amount is $250.
