Grand Dame Leaves a Legacy

Florence Groover Frank smilingFlorence Groover Frank was born and raised in Ohio. She later married, moved to Colorado, and after successfully operating her own fur store for 22 years, retired in Florida in the 1980s.

Immediately after moving to Miami Beach, Florence began supporting organizations near and dear to her heart, particularly those that helped children. She once said, "I made a pact with God, that if I ever became successful, I would always help others." Florence made her first donation of special toys for Nicklaus Children's Hospital's playroom in 1987. She later donated various Romero Britto art pieces to help brighten the walls of patient areas in the hospital. Florence wanted to make a larger impact and began an annual contribution which led to her designation as Grande Dame of the Ambassador David M. Walters International Pediatric Hall of Fame.

Florence knew that she wanted to continue her legacy of helping children for years to come, so she joined the Walters Legacy Society and bequeathed $1 million to Miami Children’s Health System, Inc / DBA as: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation through her estate plan. She passed away in 2011 and will be greatly missed by all. Nicklaus Children's salutes Grande Dame Florence Groover Frank for her lasting commitment to the children.
