A Legacy of Hope for Children

Eleanor Sweet smilingEleanor B. "Ellie" Sweet lived a long and prosperous life. True to her name, she was known to be sweet to all who came in to contact with her.

A native of Pennsylvania, Ellie moved to Naples with her family in the early 1950s. There she began working for Briggs and Stratton Industries and became very close to the Briggs family.

Ellie loved animals, especially her red Doberman, Rusty. She enjoyed watching sea birds and dolphins in the bay and feeding red cardinals each day.

She did not have any children but had many loving friends and a long-time companion named Norm Jackson, who took care of Ellie, along with her friend Dorothy, until she passed away peacefully by Norm's side.

An astute businesswoman and avid stock market follower, Ellie amassed a small fortune throughout her 84 years.

Dedicated to her community, she decided to leave her legacy supporting organizations that benefit and enrich those around her by creating a trust. Since 2004, the Eleanor B. Sweet Fund has donated nearly $600,000 to Miami Children’s Health System, Inc / DBA as: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Ellie's legacy will forever live at Miami Children’s Health System, Inc / DBA as: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation as a ray of hope for all children.
